Escape into the flavors of fall with Byways to Montague, the debut Chocolate Story from Storyline Chocolates. You’ll be whisked away on an adventure through the Pioneer Valley of Massachusetts during New England’s most spectacular season — autumn.
This first edition features eight distinct fine chocolate bars inspired by the warmth, beauty, and nostalgia of fall:
Dark Rose, Hazelnut Mocha, Blood Orange, Apple Pie, Salted Maple, Dark Pinot, Honey Crunch, and a Single Origin Bar.
Each bar is part of a journey — a multisensory tasting experience designed to engage your senses of sight, touch, sound, taste, smell, and imagination. As you savor each piece, you’ll follow a story that invites you to slow down, be present, and delight in the richness of both flavor and narrative.
📖 The Story Behind Byways to Montague
Byways to Montague draws inspiration from a little-known historical road that winds its way east to west through central Massachusetts, connecting the towns of Paxton and Orange. Along this scenic route lie working farms, lush forests, mountain streams, and the legendary Quabbin Reservoir — whose creation gave rise to the name The Lost Villages Scenic Byway.
Fall in New England is a season like no other. As the maple trees turn brilliant shades of crimson, orange, and gold, and the scent of wood smoke drifts through the crisp air, travelers come from near and far to immerse themselves in nature’s masterpiece. It was on one of these perfect autumn days that Storyline Chocolates co-founder, Michelle, discovered the quaint town of Montague, Massachusetts, and its beloved Montague Bookmill, whose motto — “books you don’t need in a place you can’t find” — perfectly captures the beauty of slowing down and savoring life’s simple pleasures.
🌰 A Story with Purpose
Proceeds from Byways to Montague support the Mark Twain House & Museum in Hartford, Connecticut — a tribute to the enduring connection between storytelling, creativity, and community.
At Storyline Chocolates, we believe chocolate has the power to tell stories — to transport, to connect, and to inspire. With Byways to Montague, we invite you to escape into the flavors of fall and savor the story.
